- A MetaVR VRSG real-time screen capture is featured on the cover of the December 2008 issue of Military Technology. (The scene is from the company's 3D
Baghdad database.) The issue also contains an article written by MetaVR and Simthetiq about how photo-specific military entity models are created for MetaVR's 3D content library.
- MetaVR is mentioned in two articles in the December 2008 issue of Military
Training and Technology. In the magazine's Polygon and Lumens section, in the article "Training Support Contract for TUAS", MetaVR is cited as the provider of the 3D synthetic payload visualization in AAI's UAS Shadow crew trainers. In addition, the magazine's Data Packets section contains an article about SRI International's use of VRSG in the XCTC program.
- MetaVR's plans to showcase new features of the forthcoming
release version 5.5 of VRSG
at I/ITSEC
2008 were cited in the article "I/ITSEC
Spotlight: 30 Years Young", in the December 2008 issue of
Training
and Simulation Journal.
- The use of MetaVR VRSG providing the visuals for ZedaSoft's portable F-16 simulator is shown in the AeroNew TV Network's September 30, 2008 video clip, "Aero-TV Looks At Zedasoft's 'Sim-In-A-Box' Mobile Training Strategy".
- MetaVR is featured in the article, "Lots of Links: Networking Virtual Trainers", in the October-November 2008 issue of Military
Training and Simulation News. The article, which examines how virtual trainers are developing capability through networking, describes how MetaVR VRSG is used in the JTAC Virtual Trainer Dome developed at the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Mesa.
- MetaVR is featured in Military
Training and Technology's annual selection of Top
100 Simulation and Training Companies in its September 2008 issue. MetaVR's
award for "Best Programs" marks its sixth year on the list.
In addition, the magazine's Polygons and Lumens section contains an
announcement about MetaVR's new Terrain
Tools for ArcGIS product.
- MetaVR Terrain Tools extension for ESRI ArcGIS is mentioned in Issue
5/2008 of Military
Simulation & Training. On page 44 in the section "Seen and Heard", the article describes how MetaVR's Terrain
Tools for ArcGIS product was used to build 3D terrain of the Vermont Air National Guard base facilities and airfield at the Burlington International Airport, Burlington, VT. The Vermont Air National Guard will use the terrain for F-16C simulation-based training.
- MetaVR is featured in the article, "Geospecific
Simulation" in the August 2008 issue of Military
Geospatial Technology, which discusses the high value of geospatial
data to DOD training and mission preparation systems. The article
describes how VRSG enables diverse training audiences to prepare for
missions, and MetaVR's challenge of supporting joint urban operations
with a single virtual environment that has the fidelity required by
different platforms in specific domains while maintaining the performance
required by immersive training systems. The article also discusses
MetaVR's new Terrain
Tools for ESRI ArcGIS 9.
- MetaVR VRSG
sensor effects are discussed in the article, "Visuals and
Sensors", starting on p.14 in Issue
2/2008 of Military
Simulation & Training. The issue also features on its cover
a VRSG real-time screen capture from the company's 3D
Baghdad database.
- MetaVR VRSG is featured among technologies used to
train JTACs in the "A
Significant Improvement in the Way They Train", in the 13.2
issue of Military
Training Technology.
- The use of MetaVR VRSG
for UAV emulation is described in the
article "Virtual Hammer" in Lincoln
Laboratory Journal Volume 16, Number 2, 2007. The article describes
Lincoln Lab's integrated sensing and decision support (ISDS) experiments
with new interactive, operator-in-the-loop simulation environment,
currently being used to explore the potential for synoptic-level sensors
to cue unmanned aircraft.
- The use of MetaVR
visuals in Lockheed Martin's JTAC Virtual Trainer Dome prototype at
AFRL is mentioned in the Silicon
Alley section of the December, 2007, issue of Military
Training and Technology. The issue also mentions MetaVR in its
survey of 3D simulation technology used as a tool in military training.
- MetaVR's Virtual
Reality Scene Generator is mentioned in the paper "Detection
threshold of visual displacement in a networked flight simulator"
(Covas, Gaska, Shamp, Pierce), presented at the Advanced Deployable
Day Night Simulation Symposium, DRDC-Toronto, November 13th-14th,
2007. This research, presented by Air
Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and Link
Simulation & Training, aims to determine the detection threshold
of visual displacement for a typical flight task, formation flight,
as a function of simulated distance and smoothing. The real-time visual
scenes were rendered with MetaVR VRSG.
- MetaVR exhibited its products in Booth #1639 at I/ITSEC
2008, which was held December 1-4, 2008, at the Orange County
Convention Center, Orlando, FL.
- MetaVR visuals were featured in the presentation
on November 5, "An Overview of US Air Force Air National Guard
CAS Training and Organisation", at the Close
Air Support Conference and Exhibition, at the Royal Aeronautical
Society, Mayfair, London. The conference was held November 4-5,
2008.
